Botanical Casting Workshop with Ramona Kristmann - Saturday, June 21, 2025
Botanical Casting is a time-honored process that botanists and artisans have used for centuries to capture the ephemeral details of nature. Even beginners can find creative success in this process that utilizes clay, water and plaster.
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to create a beautiful, botanical bas-relief casting using Lavender grown at Long Row Lavender Farm.
It will be a relaxing morning, as we gather together to roll out clay and press stems of Lavender. The fragrance of Lavender will waft around us as we carefully tweeze the stems out to create an impression mold. We’ll mix and pour plaster and while it sets up, we’ll talk over ways to finish the plaster casting once it has time to dry-cure at home.
You’ll leave this workshop with a round, botanical plaster casting along with a process guide to create botanical castings on your own.

Supplies Included: clay & plaster and working tools. (measuring and mixing containers, clay tools, tweezers, rolling tubes, levels, shims, cardboard trays and fabric for our clay working surfaces along with catch buckets for water)
